Fun Fall Activities

The fall season brings with it the thoughts of Halloween, the sight of the colorful leaves, and the smells of autumn filling the air. It’s also the last opportunity to get quality time in outside before it becomes too cold and windy to be out in the open for too long. With that said, make the most of the warmth before the snow comes with these fall activities. Check out the list and embrace the changing of the seasons!

Hiking Outside

Not only is hiking a great way to feed your adventurous spirit and explore the outdoors, it’s also a great form of exercise. Whether it’s just taking a walk on a nearby trail or an expedition into a local state park or forest, hiking, especially with friends is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. Make sure to wear long sleeve, use bug spray, and check for ticks if you’ve gone into a forest or wooded area!

Picking Pumpkins

Picking pumpkins is a classic fall activity that’s fun for everyone! Picking one’s own pumpkin and taking it home to be carved is always a treat; use the innards of the pumpkin to bake a bread or pie, or save the seeds to bake by themselves! Along with pumpkins, the pumpkin patch is also a great place to find gourds, squash, and other fall vegetables that can be made into all sorts of baked and cooked treats!

Going on a Hayride

For most of the year, these flatbed trucks and tractors are used for farm work, but every fall, the backs are filled with hay and used for giving rides. Climb on into the back of a hayride at a local farm to get a tour of the land, hear stories, and sometimes even see animals. Hayrides are fun for the entire family, and usually go along with either picking pumpkins or visiting an apple orchard. No matter which one you choose, you’re bound to have fun.

For some, fall is just the season that comes after summer; for many, fall is a time to be spent with family and friends, having fun and making memories. With these tips for a fun autumn, you’re on your way to making the most of the season and having a great time!
